What is the best way to learn alternative health techniques and practices?

I have always been extremely interested in alternative health techniques and treatments. I am currently in a very good job that I am not really crazy about. I would like to move into the alternative health field and would like to eventually open a health food store and small health spa. I know it is a process but I want to know where I can start. As far as I know (and I could be wrong) there is no school to go to learn alternative health. I don’t know where to start learning and how. Also for the learning process I need to work around my full time job as I don’t have the option to not work as I need the income. I really want to start learning about this field and just need some suggestions on where and how to start. Is there perhaps a way to be like an apprentice to an alternative practitioner?

What about some books from a health store?

An even better start is a web search in Yahoo for "alternative health techniques" that will yield at least 412 results including overviews of alternative health techniques and stacks of other useful information for you.

Another useful search in Yahoo for "alternative Health practices" will yield at least 2,888 results.

What is the best web authoring software?

I would like to create a sample Web Site and Design it using some Software but i don’t have any idea which software will i use.

I have to kinds of software that is currently install in my laptop.
Microsoft Expression and Adobe Dreamweaver.

What’s the difference between the two?

What’s the best software between the two? Why?

they both offer the same functionality, no difference in the latest versions, personally i only prefer Dreamweaver as it is what i’m most used to.

Can Herbal Medicine Compliment Traditional Medicine?

When it comes to medical treatment, there is a growing trend among many individuals which is giving rise to their commitment to take some of their personal health care needs into their own hands. This has created a huge demand for information on alternative and herbal herbal remedies.

What are Natural Herbs?

In essence, natural herbs have been around for ages, they have been a great source of nutrition and flavor in the human diet, and they have also been the main source of medicine and healing throughout human history, and the fact that they are still used widely today is not a throwback to the olden times but rather is an indication that natural herbs are a growing part of even today’s high technology world.

Many people with chronic diseases turn to natural remedies for cure, relief and a better life. Medicinal herbs fall into a category known as complementary or Alternative Medicine. For centuries, herbs have come to our rescue helping us cure serious illnesses and give us relief from pain and suffering.

Since herbs have been proven to enhance one’ s Health and wellbeing, it might be good to make them a part of your daily life. The reason why more people use nature herbs instead of the traditional drugs is the fact that they have no side effects like those associated with prescription medicine.

The use of herbs as alternative medicine is complementary. Most people who have experienced the benefits of herbal medicine use these products in addition to the available mainstream medical treatments. Recently the Food and Drug Administration issued information on the use of green tea for medicinal use and the potential benefits of drinking green tea to reduce the risk of cancer. The report was based on scientific research and the report issued included the information from these studies. Other information on the use of herbs as medicine comes from private study groups who employ traditional, scientific research to provide information to the public.

Herbal teas are another herb which have been part of the ancient and modern culture all around the world. For people who wish to detoxify body pollutants, herb tea can give instant cleansing to your body.

Even though natural herbs have no side effects, don’ t exceed the recommended dosage and use only as directed by your doctor. When a drug is mixed with herbs, both can alter each other’ s ability to metabolize and take effect.

Will the health care reform that is going on make prescription drugs more affordable?

The new health care legislation that is in the works—-it seems like many more Americans will have some kind of health insurance with this new legislation. I really don’t know what to believe.

Will this new legislation help to make prescription drugs more affordable? I’ve been buying prescription drugs from Canada for a long time (cause many are cheaper there) but maybe I’ll be able to buy them here now in USA per health care reform?

Thanks!

i don’t think that the health care reform will assist you on making your drugs more affordable, but that’s just my opinion. but what i do know is that the reform will cut down the cost of your Health bills such as going to the doctor because of an injury. i don’t know a lot about the reform but i hope that this will help you, if it were me i would just continue to purchase from Canada.

Do those who practice alternative medicine keep themselves aware of the advances of modern science?

The advances of science, particularly those in metabolism, genetics, and nanotechnology, promise unprecedented medical techniques that will revolutionize the practice of medicine in the coming years. Things like targeted drug delivery, RNA interference, patient specific therapy, gene therapy, stem cell therapy, cloning, etc, will do so much in the fight against disease. As an example, work on T-cell engineering, combined with advances in our understanding of cellular communication in the immune system, will soon allow physicians to expose immune cells to particular antigens and tell them to attack and kill any cell that has it, or not to. Imagine what such techniques could do for cancer, or organ transplantation. We could train immune cells to target specific cancer cell lines, and they will wipe them out with ease. We could transplant organs from any person into any person. This is a tiny fraction of the possibilities promised by the advances of immune based therapy, and there are so many more fields. I could go on for days about the future of modern medicine. The ability to deliver RNA molecules to specific cells is already becoming a reality. Imagine the ease with which diseases like Type I diabetes mellitus, or cystic fibrosis could be treated when we can simply stick RNA into the cell that will activate the necessary genes, or serve as a template for the missing proteins. Imagine how quickly disease like Huntington’s will be wiped out.

Will the alternative practioners stay in the loop as modern science advances? If they elect the not to, how long do they really think they’ll have a customer base?

A very good question. I would say no, and in my experience alties are anti-science. Just look at homeopathy. They will only cite science when it works to their advantage. They rather use pseudoscience to promote their quackery. They will twist and misreport the real science, like acupuncturists do. And they still use the appeal to tradition fallacy – eg; some folk remedy has been used for thousands of years so it must work. Keep in mind that traditional homeopathy and chiropractic rejects germ theory.
