Will alternative medicine advocates every stop killing people?

People die each year from beliefs related to non-Western medicine. This involves ridiculous and dogmatic beliefs like homeopathy, vaccine -denial, herbal/natural medicine, ancient chinese medicine, and many others. Will this ever stop? Or will alternative theories to actual science always undermine our advancement as a species?

As the saying goes, there’s a sucker born every minute. As long as some people continue to lack critical thinking skills, and as long as there are charlatans or sadly deluded alt med advocates, alt med will continue to hurt people directly or indirectly.

What you should do is try to warn people about the dangers of listening to miseducated "healers" or take unproven, untested alt med treatments. Even if you can convince or plant a seed of doubt and skepticism in just one person, you’ve done a great thing.

Medical science will continue to advance and has never been held back by alt med. On that you never have to worry.

Natural herbs can be used to cure many health problems. Here are a few ways in which you too can improve your health and increase your energy level using only natural herbal remedies.

Many uses of natural herbs

People use herbs differently to improve their ways of life. For instance, you may find diet herbal supplement, as well as body creams and lotions with medicinal herbs.

Most commonly natural herbs are used to combat:

- high blood pressure
- acne
- arthritis
- difficulties with menopause
- hair loss
- anxiety
- depression

Medicinal natural herbs are mostly found in Asia. One reason is climate – warm and humid it promotes plants growth. It is also traditional way of living, using healing herbs as natural remedies. Recently the Western world has also caught on the usage of medicinal herbs, as being better than the use of traditional medicines. Most commonly use natural herbs are Aloe Vera, Tee Tree, chamomile, Rosemary, Sage and St John’s wort.

Why people prefer alternative herbal treatments to conventional drugs?

Many of us trust healing plants in place of common medicine, because using herbal medicine is a safer alternative to ordinary drugs. Natural herbs almost always will give you the results desired however, it will not work as fast as strong conventional drugs. This happens because healing herbs work for your entire body, making it stronger, not just fight one problem. However, natural herb medicine is still medicine which means that a doctor should prescribe your herbal remedy. Also remember to finish the course even after you started to feel better, otherwise you will not gain the full benefit of herbal treatment.

Finding the right natural medicinal herbs for you

Many people with serious chronic diseases turn to natural remedies for cure, relief and a generally better life. Even though natural herbs are harmless, selecting the right herbal remedy is important, because there are no magical “cure all” herbs. For herbal medicine to work best it should be taken at the right dosage and at the right time of day, usually morning is recommended.

And how will you know what herbs you need? The only way is to check with a doctor if there is an herbal treatment for your condition and whether it will help you. Don’t just go to a Chinese herbs shop and buy whatever remedy they recommend, it might not work for you.

Taking any medicine including medicinal herbs without doctor’s advice is really not a good idea, because healing plants are still medication. Never forget that you will not gain any benefits if you administer the wrong herb, quantity or treatment.

Locating your natural herbal remedies

Visit a clinic that specializes on Alternative Medicine, they can give you qualified advice. They will fully check your health. Be prepared to go through a full examination, because for holistic medicine it is very important to cure all diseases as a complex. After that the doctor will tell you what natural herb or combination of herbs you need, to cure or relief to your suffering as well as help you live longer and Healthier.

You can find very many herbs that have medicinal properties. So all you really need to do is to determine which herbs to use for which situation. Than discuss it with your doctor and you will be on the path to curing your diseases with natural herbs.

Acid Reflux Herbs – an Alternative Medicine

In this time and age when technology is at a rapid pace, it is quite surprising that alternative herbal medicine can outweigh the traditional drug-based medicines. This is true in the cure for acid reflux or heartburn, where various acid reflux herb cures are more popular than the drugs.

Whereas acid reflux herb cures as Alternative Medicine still need further analysis and the dosage is a mere guessing game. A lot of people prefer them over the traditional drugs. People seem to overlook the fact that drug medications have undergone extensive research. These include various tests and scientific researches to avoid any adverse reactions when consumed by the patient.

Traditional medicines include antacids, H2 inhibitors, bismuth subsalicylate and Proton pump inhibitors as against medicinal herbs for acid reflux. Herbal medicines are as simple as the herbs they contain.

Here are some popular herbs that are proven to cure acid reflux. Though considered as natural or organic, a doctor’s recommendation is still needed before trying any of these acid reflux herb medicines:

1. Ginger- Known to cure acid reflux due to its anti-inflammatory ingredients; you can boil fresh ginger and drink it similar to tea or you can sprinkle ginger powder on your food.

2. Liquorice or licorice- This is a legume found in most parts of Asia and southern Europe. This is used in soft drinks and candies as flavoring due to its sweet aftertaste. Since ancient times, this is also used as an effective expectorant.

3. Black pepper- Helps in the digestion of food hence, best for people suffering from acid reflux.

4. Aloe Vera or Medicinal Aloe- Aloe Vera gel is commercially used as ingredients in beverages, desserts and yogurts. Further medical evaluation is still needed regarding its healing properties for heartburn.

5. Slippery elm or red elm- Used in North America for centuries as herbal medicine in the treatment of ulcers, skin inflammation, wounds, burns and boils. As a nutritional food, it is similar to oatmeal and can easily be digested by people with intestinal problems or gastritis. However, extensive scientific research is still needed for its medical properties.

6. Bladder wrack- This is an algae in the form of seaweeds found on the shores of British Isles. Commonly used as ingredients of over-the-counter drugs for heartburn and components in nutritional supplements.

As in any form of medication whether acid reflux herb cure or drug based, medical consultation is still a must. This is due to the fact that limited medical research was spent on it. It is known to happen that expecting too much of herbal medical power results to complications rather good results.

There are acid reflux herbs already in the market and commercially distributed by reputable drug companies. These herbal medications now come in the form of capsule, tablet or drops. Their main purpose is to soothe and relieve the stomach lining as well as to strengthen the whole digestive system. Accordingly, taking this herbal cures does not need to be in daily dosages just to be effective.

Nevertheless to be really effective, there is also a need to change your eating habits and your diet. Regardless of the type of medication you decide on, your road to recovery also requires discipline. Treatments include rehabilitation, hence acid reflux herb medicines will only succeed if you watch what you eat.

Alternative Treatment for Adhd – is Your Medicine Chest Locked?

Parents were shocked by a recent report which stated that a majority of teenagers engaged in dealing in ADHD drugs (such as Ritalin and Strattera and Vyvense) had gotten their supplies from the family medicine chests ! Parents are now becoming much more aware of alternative medicines for ADHD and know that there are alternatives out there which will not turn their children into drug users and ruin their childhood and adolescence.

Teacher Knows Best?
Many thousands of ADHD children are treated with powerful psychostimulant drugs. I read a recent blog post about a thirteen year old boy whose teacher insisted that he should be put on Ritalin. The parents’ doctor agreed to give him Ritalin but after some time noticed some strange side effects :- he was moody, ate paper and pencils and was generally displaying ‘psychotic episodes’. After a succession of ADHD drugs (including Paxil which has NOT been approved by the FDA for children under 18!), the parents decided to take him off all drugs. The school expelled him as they insisted that he should be on Ritalin. The good news is that the boy is now homeschooled, is off all ADHD drugs and is doing much better.

Behaviour Therapy
Behaviour therapy is sometimes considered for ADHD children. This functions by setting up a rewards/cancelling priveleges for good and bad behaviour. Some of these procedures can range from simple checking off lists to Software programs which records scores and everything else!

TV Parenting?
Active parenting is another way to approach ADHD. This can range from clear scheduling, setting of chores, listening skills and a whole range of techniques which ensures that the child’s behaviour is monitored and s/he is surrounded by love and attention and is not left alone with a TV or PC.

Cognitive Therapy
Some parents also consider cognitive therapy which is basically ‘how you think is how you feel’. Let me give you an example. If the child is encouraged, he will build his self esteem, improve his self confidence which in turn will lead to optimism. The child’s positive thought patterns are influencing his behaviour which will invariably improve.

Dangerous Additives
Keeping an eye on a child’s diet and helping them to avoid consuming large amounts of children’s sweets and snack foods which tend to contain dangerous colourings which can cause hyperactivity is a good strategy, whatever ADHD treatment you adopt. The Hyperactive Children’s Support Group have identified 21 colourings which should be avoided at all costs, yet many of these are still available in the UK! There is convincing evidence to support the fact that many of these colourings are linked to hyperactivity and ADHD.

ADHD Alternative Medicine can consist in one or several of the above but most parents prefer adopting an alternative ADHD therapy which is natural /herbal or homeopathic rather than risking the side effects of ADHD drugs. Why not join the thousands of parents who refuse to have the wool pulled over their eyes and who are waking up to the safe, economical and effective natural ADHD cures.

Complementary & Alternative Medicine treatments for Diabetes

Now-a-days Alternative Medicines or Complementary Medicines and gaining popularity, because of its curing power with out any side effects.

Diabetes details: Diabetes means your blood glucose is too high. Diabetes is the inability of the body to ‘produce insulin – type 1 diabetes’ or ‘proper use of insulin – type 2 diabetes.

Allopathic medicine Diabetes: In allopathic treatment, they consider and treat everyone in a similar manner and drugs are used for treatments. These drugs are used to stop or block one particular function of an organ. It is not trying to correct the root cause and only gives temporary relief. Also they use only one force (compared to war utilizes land force only) that is the medication for diabetes.

Alternative medicines Diabetes: treatments they consider human as a whole and each human is treated differently for the same disease. They are not only considering the disease alone, but also its causes – physical and mental (psychological) reasons.

Homeopathic remedies diabetes:

For example homeopathic remedy is concern they find the correct remedy by looking for symptoms of:

  • Main complication
  • Physical symptoms
  • Mental/emotional/psychological symptoms
  • Modalities (when the disease is better and when it is worst)
  • Causation (reason behind the disease – root cause)

Homeopathic remedies for diabetes, different peoples are treated with a different medicine with respect to their individual physical, mental, modalities and causation.

Ayurvedic herbal remedies for diabetes:

It is also called as herbal medicines, herbal therapy, herbal treatment, herbalism and botanical medicines.

The herbal medication is prepared from plants, use medicinal herbs to prevent and treat diseases and ailments or to promote health and healing. Either the dried plant as a whole or a specific part of it (root, leaves, fruit, flowers or seeds) is formulated into suitable preparation. Ayurvedic natural remedies are not only control blood sugar, but at the same time it will take care of kidney, liver, eye and hearts. These are the organs that may be affected by long term of diabetes. Also the carbohydrate metabolism is by liver, kidney, pancreas and small intestine. Thus the herbal medicines correct these organs for proper utilization and elimination of the glucose. That is, it corrects the root cause.

Yoga poses diabetes:

Yoga refers to be the traditional physical and mental disciplines originating in India. It has the ability to balance body, mind & spirit. This discipline has curative power for many chronic diseases that include diabetes, by activating glandular systems responsible for the illness. In the case of diabetes, yoga poses give mild and gentle massages to the internal organs such as pancreas, liver, intestine, etc. These organs are responsible for the diabetes cause.

Acupressure for diabetes:

Accupressure is also called as acupressure or healing touch. TCM relies on a number of basic principles which have been refined over thousands of years of medical practice. One of the major principles of this medical tradition is the idea that Health is governed by the flow of life force, or qi, through the body. Interruptions in this flow can lead to medical complaints, as the body’s balance of energy is disrupted. TCM practitioners also believe that disruptions in the flow of qi affect specific organs, and that all symptoms can be linked with a particular organ.

In the case of diabetes many patients have found that has either cured or decreased the severity of their diabetes.

Reflexology for diabetes:

Reflexology massage or zone therapy is particularly a healing art by applying pressure (using the hand, fingers and especially the thumbs). This massage is specifically done to feet, hands and some times even to the ears. It activates the acupoints which are interrelated to the organs in the body.

That is why reflexology massage is showing positive impact on promoting self-healing capabilities on diabetes.

Complementary Medicine:

All the above alternative medicine treatments are also called as complementary medicine. The name “complementary medicine” developed as the two or more systems began to be used alongside (to “complement”) each other.

So if we use all the above said alternative medicines together (used all the medicines at the same time) there is a amazing result because one complements the other;

  • Homeopathy treats disease by physical, mental, modalities and causation symptoms – human as a whole.
  • Herbal remedies correct the disease by correcting the organ responsible for the disease – this system corrects the function of the organ responsible.
  • Yoga is a physical and mental discipline that gives massage to the internal organ and calms the mind for proper function of the organ.
  • Acupressure is a healing touch which clears the blockage of qi (vital energy) and thus function of the particular organ is normalized.
  • Reflexology is an art of massaging the nerve points connecting with the organ responsible for the disease. If the nerves are stimulated the organ start function normally.

If you use all the above said complementary medicines each works differently, then the chance of cure for the disease is very high.

For example purpose we used to define alternative medicine diabetes, it is not only for diabetes but also for cholesterol, high and low blood pressure, eye problems, etc. I named a few the list is endless.
