Is allowing people to pirate digital products illegal?

If someone were to create a website that allows it’s users to submit pirated digital products to their database so that other users can
download them…… would that be illegal?

"Is allowing people to pirate Digital Products illegal?"

THANKS!!!
I don’t support pirating, so DON’T HATE!!!

No its not legal. That being said, p2p sites dont upload files…..they simply set up a network allowing members to swap files. This means the file comes from the users pc. Now the illegalities are pointed to the user and not the website. Thats how p2p sites stay a step ahead of the law and thats why you get viruses and malware! You download from a total strangers pc.

Yes and No. Pirating is basically downloading something you don’t own.
Say, i i bought a game, broke it, then downloaded it, it wouldn’t be illegal. That’s called a backup. If i just downloaded it without buying/owning it, it would be.

It would be just as legal to open an auto parts store that sells stolen car parts…

It’s great fun until it’s your car that is stolen & striped!

As you described it, probably yes. Driving someone to a bank so they can rob it is also illegal, even if you don’t go into the bank and don’t share in the proceeds.

The law is funny about things like that. They even consider it a crime if the bank robbers come out empty-handed.
