Tort refom has proven not to work. We’re not talking about legal battles here, we’re talking about human beings either being denied health insurance, or simply going broke…

    Al Franken just …
Al Franken just doesn’t have his priorities straight. Saving lives is more important than money. The French, Germans, and the other countries that have a socialist health care system end up suffering needlessly or dying due to waiting lists, approvals, and the indecision of pencil pushers. At least in the USA patients and doctors have most of the influence. No one seems to consider tort reform in order to reduce premiums since the ambulance chaser lawyers would no longer bankroll Congress.

    I’m coming at this …
I’m coming at this from the point of view that government shouldn’t be our health care providers. There are other ways to handle this but for some reason, no one is talking about it. If you do talk about it you don’t care for the poor, or you want poor people to die. Maybe everyone should step back and stop talking about the proposals that the government is presenting us. Maybe what they are presenting isn’t the best option. That is my opinion anyways.

RichMartel1: By working hard and paying for your own bills are excellent. But what if this is not enough to pay your medical costs? Should anyone die because you cannot afford the bills? This is why Franken mentioning these countries. There the size of the patient’s wallet doesn’t matter when it comes to medical care. They don’t understand what you americans are talking about going bankrupt over medical bills, because no one sends them medical bills in these countries.

When members of Congress are sworn in, they may participate in the FEHBP: … an assortment of health plans… including fee-for-service, point-of-service, & HMOs.

Not only can Congress choose… theres no waiting period. Unlike Americans who struggle against precondition clauses or are denied coverage because of preconditions, Senators & Representatives are covered no matter what – effective immediately.

None of that made America great.

By working hard and paying for my own bills. That is the way it supposed to be. I think this policy of giving up our decisions for ourselves so that we can have something for “free” is silly. It’s not free, we are still paying for it, but we have less say it how it’s handled.

    Representatives and …
Representatives and Senators alike receive some of the best health care benefits in the country, much of it paid for with taxpayer dollars. Yet these same members seem unable – or unwilling – to extend similar protections to the rest of America.

It’s called the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program. And our Senators and Congresspersons are exempt from the prospective Obama plan. They enjoy being better than their constituents.

Is that a good enough source for you?

Quote: No matter, Speaker Nancy Pelosi is whisking the bill through House committees even before CBO has had a chance to score it in detail. As Wisconsin Republican Paul Ryan put it to us, We will not have read it, and we will not have a score of it, but we will have passed it out of committee.
