Why Running Your Business Online Can Be Easy

There are many ways that you can find to run your own business. In fact, putting your business online might very well be the easiest way that you can think of to really have a good shot at making money from home.

The reason that running your business online can be so easy is that you are basically running a business that the whole world has access to. You can find that you have an audience you’ve never thought of before. There are no boarders on the internet, and it is all one big place, so that means that no matter where your site is, you can figure out a way to get it seen by everyone you want it seen by.

This means that you have to do a lot of work to have advertising, yes, but there are firms that can help you out with this, and there are firms that know how to get your advertising done. This is an important step, but once you have done it you’ll see that there is business coming for you from all over.

In fact, having your business online can be one of the easiest things you’ve ever done. Imagine that you don’t have to go to work, you can stay at home, and you can still be making money, just by sitting in front of your computer. There are so many ways that you can take advantage of this kind of schedule, so having a home business that is run online can be something that you’ll find very easy indeed.

The best part about having a home business online is that you can truly have the most chances to have customers. You don’t have to worry about doing print advertising, and you don’t have to worry if you live in a small town or an out of the way area. No matter what you are selling or providing to your customers, you’ll find that there is a market for it online. This means that just by setting up your home business online, you can have an easy way to have a business, and you can continue to live the life that you and your family have always wanted to live.

Remember though that even though having a home business online is easy it does require maintenance. You have to make sure that you are checking your sites and that all of your links are working all the time, because if you have even a few minutes where your site is not accessible, you are going to lose business.

You should also know that while you have a home business online, you are always open, so be prepared to have lots of emails to read when you get to work every day. However, it is going to be worth it, because running an home business is so easy that you will think you should have done it years ago.

When you're running a business from home, what is the easiest way to keep your records for tax?
I am just starting a little part time business online. What is the easiest way to keep my records for tax purposes (I’m sure some people have their own filing systems), and exactly what records should I be keeping? From what I understand, I need to keep bank statements for my business account, receipts for incomings from sales, and receipts for outgoings (buying stock and postage etc). Also when you fill in your tax return, I assume you pay tax based on your entire turnover minus your costs (profit)?

    Thanks.
Just to add that I’m in the UK.

Invest $100 in a copy of Quickbooks. This is by far the best way to keep records of your income and expenses, produce reports and get ready for taxes.

For filing your reciepts.. an accordian folder works best. A section for each type of receipt for easy retrival.

When I did this I kept my bank statements in one file, invoices/receipts for my sales in another file, and all the receipts for my expenses in a third file. Before I filed both sorts of receipts I numbered them and entered the details into a simple spreadsheet. The spreadsheet was what I referred to, the files were just in case something went wrong or the taxman asked to see them (he never did).

The taxable profit from your business is your total sales income less your deductable expenses (cost of stock, postage, stationary etc) less any capital allowances (in practice this is the entire value of an capital items, such as office equipment, bought in the year).

Strictly speaking, to be deductable an expense must be incurred "wholly and exclusively" for your business. But when you work from home HMRC allow you to deduct the relevant portion of things that are partly for business and partly for personal use. This includes a portion of utility bills and your internet access, as well as the relevant portion of the cost of PCs etc.

if your contact your local tax office they have several courses which are free which help with tax law and procedures i did these when we started our business are they are very useful

you need to register with your local tax office as self employed you can pay your national insurance by direct debit it is a set rate for self employed not PAYE

keep a profit and loss account book

list all expenses in date order

    divide into sections

    eg
    utilities
    supplies
    advertisng

    list incoming money
    outgoing money

keep all receipts if you are working from home you claim tax allowance on a percentage of your
    car
    petrol
utility bills eg phone, gas, electric, clothes, running cost of car, petrol it will only be a percentage

you are better off getting an accountant even if you dont earn a great deal of money they know the tax law inside out.

most local colleges do a basic book keeping course they usually last about 6 weeks and the cost of the course is tax deductable as well

    good luck

Quickbooks is typically the best way to keep track of all your accounting. However, it really depends on what industry you are in. For example, we are using IQ reseller as our accounting tool to keep everything in check and it has been wonderful. Initially, we also thought Quickbooks was the best way to go until we ran into a lot of problems and realized most people in our industry (Buying/Selling I.T. hardware) actually use IQ Reseller. To this point, it has been great!
